In a historic moment for Delhi, Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the capital's ninth Chief Minister during a ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. Gupta, the second woman from the BJP to hold this position in Delhi, was met with enthusiastic crowds outside her Shalimar Bagh residence on Friday, eager to congratulate her.
Administered the oath of office by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Gupta, along with six other ministers, including Parvesh Verma and Ashish Sood, marked a new chapter for the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi. Previously, Gupta held influential roles within the BJP Mahila Morcha, underscoring her commitment to marginalized communities and women's causes.
Rekha Gupta's political roots trace back to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, eventually leading to her presidency at the Delhi University Students' Union.
