Amid a wave of leadership reshuffles, the Delhi legislative assembly gears up for its opening session set to kick off on February 24. Newly appointed protem speaker, BJP's Arvinder Singh Lovely, will oversee the proceedings, beginning with the oath-taking of freshly elected MLAs in the morning, followed by the election of the assembly speaker scheduled during the afternoon session.
The subsequent two days will witness significant discussions and decisions. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena is slated to address the assembly on February 25, setting the tone for discussions and tabling the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. These sessions will also open the floor for a motion of thanks in response to the LG's address.
On February 26, attention shifts to electing the assembly's Deputy Speaker. Meanwhile, newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wasted no time asserting the BJP government's plans, prioritizing the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and presenting overdue CAG reports, fulfilling pre-election commitments and addressing past governmental lapses.
