The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday, following the release of a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. The report, presented by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accused AAP of financial misconduct relating to Delhi's excise policies.
Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva described the CAG report as a 'list of the black deeds of AAP' during a press conference in the national capital. He reiterated previous assertions that Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor, has acted as a 'sharab ka dalal' or broker of alcohol, particularly during election campaigns.
BJP leader Manoj Tiwari charged Kejriwal with leveraging his power to hinder the CAG report's presentation in the Vidhan Sabha, alleging a significant scam worth over Rs 2,000 crore. The CAG's 'Performance Audit on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi' scrutinized the regulation of liquor from 2017 to 2021, revealing major inefficiencies and governance failures.
