The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana has clinched a notable victory in the municipal elections, winning 25 out of 32 contested seats and securing mayoral positions in nine significant locations across the state, according to state Minister Anil Vij. The elections, held on March 2, demonstrated a strong support base for the ruling party among voters.
Notable victories include BJP leader Shelja Sandeep Sachdeva's win in Ambala, triumphing over Congress' Amisha Chawla by 20,487 votes, and Ram Avtar's victory in Rohtak with a 45,198-vote margin against Congress' Surajmal Kiloi. These results reflect the party's ongoing dominance and its ability to maintain voter confidence.
Vij credits the BJP's success to effective local governance and developmental projects in Ambala Cantt, while dismissing the opposition as insignificant. He also claimed a conspiracy against him during previous assembly elections but praised constituents for their continued trust by re-electing him for the seventh time.
