Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Hungary has sparked controversy, as it coincides with an ICC arrest warrant against him over alleged war crimes in Gaza. Despite the warrant, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban remains a staunch ally of Netanyahu, dismissing the ICC's actions as politically motivated.

Gergely Gulyas, chief of staff to Orban, announced at a Budapest news conference that Netanyahu will likely arrive before Easter. This stance places Hungary at odds with several other European nations, ICC members that have pledged to detain Netanyahu if he sets foot on their territory.

The ICC issued the warrant in November, accusing Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant of crimes against humanity. While Israel and its ally, the United States, do not recognize the ICC, Gulyas hinted at Hungary possibly withdrawing from the court, citing its focus on political rather than legal matters.
