In a heated exchange within the political arena, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee has accused Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of acting in the interest of the affluent, at the expense of West Bengal's development funds.
Banerjee alleged that Central funds meant for key schemes like MGNREGA and PMAYG have been withheld for three years due to political biases following the BJP's failure in the state's 2021 assembly elections.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have countered these claims, with Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Chaudhary demanding an apology from Banerjee for his remarks, asserting that the government's fund allocations are equitable across all states.
