BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has criticized the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) over its nationwide protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill. Chugh emphasized the necessity to liberate the Waqf Board from 'land mafias' and 'looters' for the betterment of impoverished Muslims.
Chugh stated that certain individuals are manipulating the Waqf Board lands, acting under the influence of 'land mafias', instead of serving the needs of poor Muslims. Highlighting the misuse, he stressed the urgency of reforming the board to truly benefit the community.
Earlier, BJP MP Jagadambika Pal accused AIMPLB of politicizing the issue and misleading minorities. Pal noted that the AIMPLB's protests are premature as the proposed amendment, focusing on digitization and transparency, seeks to legally reclaim occupied properties and ensure their appropriate use.
The protest movement also witnessed participation from Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders, including Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu Yadav assured protesters of his party's support against what they consider an 'unconstitutional' amendment. The proposed legislation aims to introduce reforms benefiting the Muslim community and the nation.
