In an unexpected development, Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has raised alarms sobre the US extending a lunch invitation to Pakistani Army Chief Asif Munir. He has urged India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the issue, emphasizing its potential implications on Indo-US relations.
Singh remarked to PTI that it is unprecedented for a Pakistani Army Chief, known for his anti-India stance, to be invited by a US President. Historical invitations extended to Pakistani generals, usually in their capacity as presidents, add a layer of complexity to current relations.
He underscored concerns relating to US-Pakistan military cooperation, cautioning that similar engagements in the past have inadvertently fueled extremism affecting India. Singh called for a strategic review of this development involving the Indian government and international partners.
