Following procedural motions, the chamber was temporarily idle as GOP leaders met with Trump, attempting to align on the controversial bill. Internal disagreements persisted, with some Republicans skeptical of the bill's impact on Medicaid and fiscal objectives, threatening their narrow 220-212 majority.

The bill extends tax cuts from Trump's first term, adding USD 4.5 trillion in cuts over a decade. Funding for defence and immigration is increased, offset by reduced spending on Medicaid and food assistance. The House now faces intense deliberations amid Democratic opposition and Republican dissent.
