In a significant political move, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP to manipulate voter rolls in Bihar. Gandhi made these allegations during the launch of his 1,300 km 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', aiming to protect the democratic principle of 'one person, one vote'.
During a meeting with individuals who claimed their names were erased from the electoral rolls, Gandhi described the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls as a 'new weapon' of 'vote chori' or theft. The campaign underscores the alleged alliance between the Election Commission and the ruling party to disenfranchise certain voter groups.
The yatra, a mix of foot and vehicle travel, is set to traverse numerous areas in Bihar and conclude with a rally in Patna after 16 days. Gandhi's statement aligns with the broader opposition INDIA bloc's efforts to prevent any manipulation in the upcoming Bihar polls.
