The Himachal Pradesh Assembly descended into chaos on Tuesday as both the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP traded accusations of undermining democracy. The session became heated when Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi criticized Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur's past tenure as chief minister.
Tensions rose as BJP members responded with slogans, disrupting the proceedings and prompting the speaker to briefly adjourn the House. Upon resumption, further disagreements led to a BJP walkout. Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania emphasized that comments undermining ministers and MLAs would be excluded from official records.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan objected to comments made by the Leader of Opposition, accusing the BJP of destabilizing House proceedings for lack of substantial issues. The situation underscored ongoing friction and a contentious political atmosphere in the state's legislative body.
