The Lok Sabha turned into a battleground on Wednesday as opposition MPs clashed with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over a proposed constitutional amendment. The bill, designed to streamline the removal of Chief Ministers and ministers accused of serious offences, led to a ruckus as opposition members tore copies and disrupted proceedings.

In defense of the government's controversial legislation, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized opposition resistance, particularly targeting leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, who have retained power despite extended legal detentions. Prasad questioned the opposition's motives, suggesting they were reluctant to embrace reforms crucial for Indian governance.

The 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, along with other legislative amendments, aims to oust those detained for over 30 days on serious charges. Notably, Kejriwal served over five months in jail in 2024 without resigning. As proceedings escalated, Speaker Om Birla appealed for decorum, urging members to uphold the dignity of the House.
