DMK Leader TKS Elangovan has reiterated Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's accusation that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is exploiting the recent Karur stampede tragedy for political gain.
Elangovan criticized the BJP for dispatching a fact-finding team to Karur, suggesting that the political party's motion was more about optics than genuine concern for affected individuals. He elaborated that if the BJP proceeds with legal action against actor Vijay, such pressure might coerce him into joining their ranks.
Expressing disapproval, Elangovan recalled the harsh conditions endured by attendees prior to the incident, arguing that the lack of basic amenities was a glaring oversight leading to the chaos. Meanwhile, CM Stalin condemned the BJP's actions as opportunistic, especially when the Central Government previously ignored other crises in Tamil Nadu. The tragic stampede on September 27 in Velusamypuram claimed at least 41 lives, leaving over 100 injured, amidst delayed organizational timelines. CM Stalin also pointed fingers at Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her swift visit, contrasting it with her absence during other critical disasters.
