Congress Protests Metro Station Renamings in Mumbai

Affected stations include Siddhivinayak, Mahalaxmi, and Acharya Atre Chowk, sparking outrage among Congress members. Mumbai Congress president Varsha Gaikwad particularly criticized renaming the station near the Nehru Science Centre, seeing it as an erasure of historic legacy.

Gaikwad accused the BJP of advancing corporate interests over public sentiment, branding their actions as anti-Maharashtra and disrespectful. Congress leaders demonstrated near the Siddhivinayak Metro station, displaying placards to voice their dissatisfaction.
