Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is making a direct appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump to assist in ending the prolonged conflict in Sudan. Sources close to the matter state that Saudi Arabia believes Trump's involvement could break the current deadlock.

The conflict, which began in 2023 as a power tussle between Sudan's armed forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has resulted in bloodshed and regional instability. Saudi Arabia is leveraging Trump's self-proclaimed image as a global peacemaker to appeal for his intervention.

Despite the involvement of the U.S., UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt in the Quad group aimed at resolving the conflict, progress has been sluggish. With regional security at stake, particularly concerning the proximity of Sudan to Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, further diplomatic pressure is being applied.
