In Kerala, political tensions have surfaced as parties, except the BJP, raised alarms about the hurried execution of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
During a meeting helmed by Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U Kelkar, the ruling CPI(M) expressed criticism over the ongoing revision, stating it neglected public concerns. CPI(M) representative M Vijayakumar highlighted the distress faced by Booth Level Officers, citing cases of one suicide and collapses among officers.
The IUML's Muhammad Shah shared similar concerns, criticizing the accelerated timeline, hinting at a connection to the upcoming Supreme Court hearing. Meanwhile, BJP's J R Padmakumar warned against politicizing the process, claiming it could undermine democracy and destabilize the state's electoral system.
