The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set to voice its concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and its adverse effects during the upcoming winter session of Parliament. The party alleges that the Election Commission's decision to impose SIR has resulted in severe pressure and alleged fatalities among Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in West Bengal.
Senior TMC leaders argue that while the revision process was initiated in West Bengal with unprecedented haste, similar states have been exempted, raising suspicions of targeting Bengali identity. The TMC questions why bordering states like Tripura and Meghalaya were exempted, hinting at possible political motives.
Since the process began, 41 individuals reportedly died, with families attributing this to immense stress and deadlines. TMC demands compensation for the deceased BLOs' families and seeks parliamentary discussions on what they label a 'punitive' exercise by the Election Commission and calls for immediate deadline relaxation.
