NDA Gears Up for Finalizing Assam Seat Sharing Before Magh Bihu

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Assam is in the process of cementing its seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming state assembly elections, which are scheduled for March-April. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has set a deadline to finalize these arrangements by mid-January.
Besides the BJP, the key players in NDA's political strategy include the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and Bodoland People's Front (BPF), all of which have established representation in the state assembly. Additional NDA affiliates like Rabha Hasong Joutha Sangram Samiti (RHJSS) and Janashakti Party (JP) are in discussions for seat-sharing, despite lacking current MLAs.
Sarma expressed optimism that talks with AGP, RHJSS, and JP will conclude by the festival of Magh Bihu, celebrated from January 13-15. The BJP has a commanding 64 seats in the 126-member House, with AGP, UPPL, and BPF holding nine, seven, and three seats respectively.
