MNF Leads in Lai District Council Elections Amid High Voter Turnout

Mizoram's main opposition party, the Mizo National Front (MNF), is leading in the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) elections, according to officials as of Tuesday's vote count.
Contested across 20 seats, the MNF has claimed victory in four, while the Congress has bagged two seats. Meanwhile, the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and the BJP have each secured one seat.
The counting of votes is ongoing in Lawngtlai and has remained peaceful, with no incidents reported. Voter turnout was high at nearly 84% for the elections held on December 3, featuring 80 candidates, including 11 Independents.
