In a heated debate at the Lok Sabha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi fiercely criticized the BJP, accusing them of orchestrating a 'vote theft' with the assistance of the Election Commission. He labeled this action as a significant 'anti-national act' that threatens the democratic foundation of India.

Gandhi raised concerns over legislative changes that, according to him, remove accountability for election commissioners and questioned the removal of the chief justice of India from the appointment panel. He demanded electoral reforms, including transparency in voter lists and electronic voting machine architecture.

The Congress leader highlighted the alteration of laws that now allow the destruction of CCTV footage after 45 days, claiming it as an attempt to cover illicit activities. Gandhi called for the reversal of such policies, asserting that India must uphold its democratic values as the greatest democracy worldwide.
