In a bid to tackle India's worsening air pollution crisis, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday urged the government to engage in a comprehensive discussion in parliament to develop an effective action plan.
Gandhi highlighted the alarming situation, particularly in major cities, where millions of children are affected by lung diseases, citing pollution's destructive impact on future generations. He called for unity between the government and opposition, stressing the necessity of a non-ideological, cooperative approach on this pressing issue.
Responding to Gandhi's plea, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reassured the parliament of the government's openness to dialogue, stating their commitment to addressing significant issues in collaboration with all political parties. This conversation emerges amidst escalating concerns over hazardous air quality levels in cities like Delhi-NCR, with AQI readings signaling severe health risks.
