In a surprising development, West Bengal's political landscape witnessed a shift as Aroop Biswas resigned from his position as sports minister following controversy surrounding Lionel Messi's event mismanagement.
Although stepping down from this role, Biswas will continue to serve in the cabinet by holding onto his responsibilities in the power department.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will, for now, manage the Sports and Youth Welfare Department herself, announced Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.
