In a significant diplomatic maneuver, India on Wednesday summoned the Bangladeshi envoy, Riaz Hamidullah, expressing strong discontent over potential threats posed by extremist elements targeting its mission in Dhaka.
The move highlights India's concern over Bangladesh's worsening security situation, as New Delhi calls for transparent and credible elections scheduled for February 12.
The diplomatic tensions were further fueled by a previous complaint from Bangladesh about statements made by their exiled former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, while residing in India.
