Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lambasted the Congress party for a controversial social media post depicting a 'meji' structure burning, simulating the BJP state headquarters in flames, a move seen as inflammatory by many.
State BJP president Dilip Saikia labeled the social media post as a calculated attempt to incite unrest, sparking a significant backlash. The image was an AI-generated depiction that resembled a traditional Magh Bihu festival structure called 'meji,' used to symbolize warding off evil.
Critics argue that the Congress party's depiction is a clear misrepresentation of Assamese cultural practices, potentially alienating them from the Assamese people. The socially sensitive post was subsequently removed from the platform after attracting widespread criticism.
