Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will maintain its hold on power in the state in the forthcoming Assembly elections expected in March or April. He addressed the media following his visit to the Mata Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur's Gomati district, suggesting that the election timetable might be made public by February.
Sarma, highlighting the achievements of the BJP government, noted that 100% of the initiatives promised were fulfilled, positioning the party favorably for a resounding victory in the 126-member Assembly. He stressed that the elections are centered on development and identity themes, revealing that roughly 1.6 lakh youth have secured government employment transparently over the past five years.
The Chief Minister also raised alarms about Bangladeshi infiltration in Assam, stating that the Muslim population in Assam could reach 40% post-Census, endangering local demographics.
