Uncontested Path: D P Aryal Set to Become Nepal's Speaker

D P Aryal, a prominent lawmaker from Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is likely to be elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Aryal emerged as the sole candidate after the nomination process concluded on Friday.
The election for this pivotal parliamentary role will occur on Sunday. Aryal, who serves as the Vice President of the RSP, was elected as a Member of Parliament from Kathmandu Constituency 9 in recent general elections. His candidacy was proposed by RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, receiving unanimous support at a parliamentary party meeting.
If only one individual files a nomination, the regulations stipulate that the candidate is elected unopposed, according to Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh K C. The official announcement is scheduled for the upcoming meeting of the House of Representatives.
