Crisis in AAP as Key Members Switch to BJP

In a significant political shift, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing internal turmoil after a substantial portion of its Rajya Sabha members defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D Raja expressed serious concerns, suggesting the move has far-reaching political consequences, especially in Punjab where AAP governs.

During an interaction with ANI, D Raja emphasized the need for AAP to critically assess and understand the reasons for such defections. He raised questions about democracy's future if such political practices persist. "AAP needs to conduct an introspective review of its candidate selection and retention strategies," Raja asserted.

Echoing this sentiment, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Rajeev Kumar Rai accused the BJP of destabilizing opposition parties whenever electoral victories elude them. Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma also critiqued the situation, attributing the defections to a lack of ideological commitment within AAP. The departure of key figures like Raghav Chadha underscores the party's deviation from its founding principles, Chadha contended.
