The Chhattisgarh Assembly has passed a resolution demanding the swift implementation of one-third reservation for women across both Parliament and all state legislative assemblies following the completion of the delimitation process. The decision, fostered by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, occurred after a rigorous nine-hour debate.
The ruling party emphasized that the measure is crucial for elevating women's dignity and empowering them. However, the opposition party Congress boycotted the session, opposing the linkage with delimitation and advocating for immediate action.
During the heated debate, Chief Minister Sai underlined the government's commitment to female empowerment, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives. The opposition, led by Charan Das Mahant, criticized the ruling for its stand, highlighting the necessity of unconditional enforcement.
