Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said that he does not to campaign during elections because though he is a politician, ''90 per cent'' of his work is social work. He was speaking as chief guest at a ceremony where the 'Punya Bhushan' award, instituted by the Punya Bhushan Foundation to honour illustrious Pune citizens, was conferred on industrialist Abhay Firodia.

''Although I am a politician, I do 90 per cent social work. Therefore, I do not feel the need for campaigning during elections,'' the senior BJP leader said. Firodia is not only an industrialist but a socially sensitive person who follows ethics in business, Gadkari said. Talking about the automobile industry, the Union minister said it provides jobs to the youth.

The Electrical Vehicle segment is now booming and buyers have to wait longer for EVs than for petrol and diesel vehicles, he said.
