Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari has emphasized the significance of opposition unity in India, suggesting that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee's fortunes could have been different with a Congress alliance.
In the aftermath of the recent West Bengal assembly elections where BJP secured a commanding 207 out of 294 seats, Tiwari criticized the BJP's central interference in electoral processes which he described as detrimental to democratic principles.
Tiwari, with the company of other Congress leaders, scrutinized BJP's leadership strategy, citing a tendency to elevate defectors to prominent roles, which he believes may cause internal rifts. Meanwhile, MLA Aradhana Mishra accused BJP of not sufficiently representing women in leadership positions.
