Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and current Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Ritabrata Banerjee, maintained that he has not communicated with any parliamentarian in the past week, leaving him unable to predict their actions. Yet, he confidently remarked that unexpected developments might still unfold.
In a statement made earlier this week, Banerjee revealed that 58 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have been recognized as the principal opposition in the 18th West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The Speaker has acknowledged their claim, granting them a pivotal role.
Banerjee, while addressing the media, articulated the faction's desire for Mamata Banerjee to serve as their chief advisor, leveraging her guidance to solidify their opposition's stance. He asserted that the TMC's legislative team's cohesion and adherence to norms have warranted their acceptance as the primary opposition.
