The INDIA bloc meeting on Monday revealed underlying tensions, with West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh criticizing the alliance as 'non-existent', citing significant differences between Congress and Trinamool Congress (TMC). Ghosh, while speaking to media in Kolkata, mentioned Mamata Banerjee, compelled to attend following TMC's electoral setbacks.
BJP's critique continued with Samik Bhattacharya's derisive remarks about the alliance, drawing attention to the ongoing rivalry between TMC and Congress in West Bengal. Bhattacharya questioned the cohesion of INDIA, suggesting the alliance's internal contradictions as an 'issue of ridicule' ahead of its New Delhi meeting.
The opposition's delicate unity faces further challenges as DMK abstains from the gathering due to 'betrayal' by Congress in Tamil Nadu politics. Despite this, Congress leads efforts to present a unified front against central policies, with Jairam Ramesh emphasizing opposition to government actions perceived harmful to Indian democracy and economy.
