Political Earthquake: TMC MPs Consider Mass Defection to BJP-led NDA

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury accuses TMC of former poaching tactics as nearly 20 TMC MPs signal a shift towards the BJP-led NDA. This political reconfiguration may reshape West Bengal's and national parliamentary dynamics, exploiting anti-defection laws to potentially shield against disqualification.

Amidst a whirlwind of political maneuvers, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of employing 'poaching' strategies during its tenure in power, aimed at asserting its political supremacy. However, with nearly 20 TMC Members of Parliament now reportedly intending to migrate towards the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the political calculations are dramatically changing.

In a conversation with ANI, Chowdhury articulated concerns about TMC’s historical strategy of debilitating the Congress by enticing MLAs and local representatives. He argued that the TMC justified these moves as necessary for Bengal's advancement. This present realignment within TMC, fueled by internal dissent, is depicted as a continuation of the methods formulated by Mamata Banerjee, according to Chowdhury.

The BJP, according to Chowdhury, views this turmoil as an advantageous moment to propel its legislative agenda forward, capitalizing on the political discord. TMC rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar suggested that 20 MPs have formally communicated their intentions to break from TMC to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, a move that merits attention as it may alter the legislative fabric not only of West Bengal but also on a national scale.
