Experts Uncover Probable Russian Deployment Site for Controversial Burevestnik Missile
Two U.S. researchers have identified a probable deployment site in Russia for the 9M730 Burevestnik, a nuclear-powered cruise missile President Putin claims is 'invincible' with unlimited range. Satellite imagery suggests construction at a facility near Moscow, raising strategic and safety concerns among experts.
Two U.S. researchers have pinpointed a probable deployment site in Russia for the 9M730 Burevestnik, a new nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missile touted by President Vladimir Putin as 'invincible.' However, some experts doubt the missile's strategic value and safety.
Using commercial satellite images, the researchers identified a construction project near a nuclear warhead storage facility known as Vologda-20 and Chebsara, located 295 miles north of Moscow. This facility appears to be the potential deployment site for the missile.
The identification suggests Russia is moving forward with deployment despite a history of test failures. Experts express concerns about the missile's capability and the risk of a radiation-spewing mishap.
