India's Bio-E3 policy represents a pivotal advancement in positioning the nation as a global bio-economy leader, says Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Speaking at the Global Bio-India Summit 2024, Singh emphasized that the policy aims to drive sustainable innovation and bio-manufacturing.
Launched last month, the Bio-E3 policy is designed to optimize the use of biological resources for the production of specialty chemicals, smart proteins, and other biotechnological advancements. It seeks to bridge the gap between research and commercial manufacturing, particularly in emerging biotech hubs across the country.
The policy is set to revolutionize sectors including bio-pharma, bio-energy, and bio-industrials, contributing to India's green transition and economic development. Singh highlighted the rapid growth trajectory of India's biotech industry, predicting it will reach a market size of 300 billion dollars by 2030.
