A devastating fire erupted at a resort construction site in Busan, South Korea, on Friday, tragically claiming the lives of at least six individuals. Fire officials reported that around 100 workers were able to evacuate the site safely.
An additional 14 people were dramatically rescued by helicopter from the top of the structure, according to Hong Moon-shik, chief of the Busan Gijang District Fire Department. Hundreds of firefighters were dispatched to tackle the blaze, which was largely under control by Friday afternoon.
Six people were discovered unconscious on the first floor, near the presumed origin of the fire, and later pronounced dead at local hospitals. Despite 25 others sustaining minor injuries, the cause of the fire remains unclear as investigations continue.
