The Bharatiya Janata Party government in Delhi has announced plans to introduce legislation dedicated to the conservation and protection of stray cows in the city.
Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood announced the initiative in the Delhi Assembly, addressing concerns over stray cattle disrupting civic order. The proposed law aims to curb cow exploitation and illegal trade while maintaining city order. Sood emphasized the government's commitment to collective sentiments, which reflect Sanatan values and resonate with the citizens of Delhi.
In response to rising issues related to stray cattle, including traffic disruptions, accidents, and sanitation hazards, the government also plans new cow shelters, with Rs 40 crore allocated for a 'Model Gaushala' in the Ghumanhera village. This plan aligns with a private member resolution advocating for enhanced shelter provisions and passed by a voice vote in the Assembly.
