In a statement on Saturday, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa revealed a notable enhancement in the water quality of Delhi's Yamuna River, attributing the progress to the government's continuous endeavors under the Yamuna cleaning program.
The minister emphasized that these improvements are the result of ongoing human effort rather than seasonal variations. The allocated Rs 500 crore is being utilized to upgrade sewage treatment plants, intercept drainage, and prevent untreated discharges into the river.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee reported a decrease in key pollution indicators like Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), alongside increased Dissolved Oxygen (DO) levels. The minister expressed cautious optimism, linking this progress to broader environmental achievements under the Environment Action Plan 2025.
