Turning Crop Residue into Clean Energy: A Sustainable Initiative

SAEL Industries is leading an initiative in North India to convert 20 lakh tonnes of paddy waste into clean energy. This effort targets stubble burning, a major source of pollution post-harvest, aiming to curb air pollution, support rural livelihoods, and provide a sustainable energy source.

As North India faces worsening air quality after harvest season, an initiative spearheaded by SAEL Industries aims to tackle stubble burning by converting agricultural waste into clean energy, the company declared on Thursday.

The initiative specifically targets the regions of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, where stubble burning vastly contributes to seasonal smog. By addressing pollution at its source, the program also supports rural livelihoods.

SAEL Industries announced plans to procure 20 lakh tonnes of paddy waste during this harvest season, converting it into clean electricity. CEO Laxit Awla emphasized that this project not only opens new income possibilities for farmers but also addresses environmental, social, and economic aspects of crop residue management.
