Severe Cyclone 'Montha' has unleashed heavy rains across Telangana, leaving a trail of destruction and prompting urgent government response efforts. The storm, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast, has resulted in one fatality and significant damages as it lashed multiple districts with torrential downpours and strong winds.
Districts including Warangal, Hanumakonda, and Mahabubabad recorded substantial rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. In Suryapet district, a tragic accident claimed the life of a 48-year-old man when strong winds uprooted a tree, which fell on him while he was riding a two-wheeler. Simultaneously, flooding and waterlogging affected roads and low-lying areas, leading to emergency evacuations.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy issued high alert directives to the state administration, emphasizing the importance of minimizing losses and conducting efficient rescue operations. Educational institutions were closed in affected districts, and public transport was significantly disrupted due to waterlogging, affecting passenger train services.
