Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the Metro's critical role in environmental protection amid the capital's traffic problem. Her remarks were made during the opening of a new Metro Museum at the Supreme Court Metro station, reflecting on how public transportation underpins eco-friendly advancements in the city.
During her address, Gupta highlighted the efforts of the Delhi transportation department, including the shift to electric buses. The city aims to have a complete electric bus fleet by 2026, alongside offering incentives for residents to adopt electric vehicles while imposing stricter controls over CNG and petrol vehicle users.
The inauguration ceremony also paid homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, underscoring his contribution to the capital's infrastructural development. Gupta expressed that museums play a vital role in preserving and showcasing impactful historical narratives for future generations.
