India's Bioenergy Surge: A Decade of Growth and Challenges
India has expanded its renewable energy capacity with significant investments in biomass and waste-to-energy projects over the past decade. Despite progress, states like Arunachal Pradesh and Delhi show zero biomass capacity, highlighting geographical disparities in bioenergy advancements across the country.

In the past decade, India has significantly expanded its renewable energy capacity, adding 2,361 megawatts of biomass and 228 MW of waste-to-energy, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, revealed that 2.88 lakh biogas plants have been established nationwide in response to a Lok Sabha query.
Despite substantial progress under the National Bioenergy Programme, certain states like Arunachal Pradesh and Union Territories have yet to establish any biomass or waste-to-energy projects, indicating regional disparities in bioenergy adoption.
