India's star goalkeeper PR Sreejesh revealed he has not thought about reversing his retirement decision after an unforgettable campaign at the Paris Olympics. Sreejesh's performance, marked by crucial saves, helped secure a bronze for India with a 2-1 win over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium on Thursday.

A brace from skipper Harmanpreet Singh and Sreejesh's stunning saves were crucial in India's victory. Despite Harmanpreet's efforts, Sreejesh stole the show, enjoying a fitting end to his illustrious career. In his final game, he produced several vital saves to help India win back-to-back bronze medals at the Olympics.

Post-match, Sreejesh shared his thoughts, stating, "The team performed admirably today. We bounced back strongly after the semifinals. This wasn't an easy match, but the team did a wonderful job. I'm happy and now heading home to my family. I haven't thought about rethinking my retirement; for now, it's a signing-off."

In a congratulatory phone call, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Sreejesh and the team's accomplishments, emphasizing the unique sentiment tied to a hockey medal. Modi encouraged Sreejesh to contribute to nurturing a new team. Throughout the campaign, Sreejesh faced 62 shots and saved 50, solidifying his status as the 'God of Indian Modern Hockey.'

Following India's triumphant win, the entire team honored Sreejesh, who stood with his arms raised high, in a symbolic farewell to an illustrious career. (ANI)
