Morne Morkel Appointed as India's New Bowling Coach

In a significant move for Indian cricket, former South African pace ace Morne Morkel has been named the new bowling coach of the Indian national team, as confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah to PTI on Wednesday. This appointment completes new head coach Gautam Gambhir's preferred support staff.
Morkel, 39, will take over the role from Paras Mhambrey starting with the Bangladesh series, opening on September 19 in Chennai. His contract extends until the end of the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa.
Gautam Gambhir, who advocated for Morkel's selection, also appointed assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeschate to his team. Morkel brings extensive experience, with 544 international wickets and previous work with Gambhir in IPL's Lucknow Super Giants.
