David Jakins, widely recognized as 'King Conker,' has been exonerated of all cheating accusations at the Men's World Conker Championships. The controversy emerged after a steel conker was discovered in Jakins' pocket, prompting a thorough investigation.
The annual competition, a tradition since the mid-19th century in England, involves players attempting to smash each other's conker, a tough brown seed from the horse chestnut tree, off its string. Despite initial suspicions, officials found no evidence that Jakins used the steel conker during his matches.
A spokesperson for the World Conker Championships announced that Jakins was cleared of all suspicion, allowing his victory to stand, and his name will now be etched onto the champion's trophy. Jakins expressed relief, saying it was a 'stressful week.'
