The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a substantial increase in the prize pool for the 2023 Champions Trophy, setting it at $6.9 million—a 53% rise from the 2017 edition. The winning team will receive $2.24 million as Pakistan prepares to host the tournament for the first time in nearly three decades.

The competition will commence on February 19 in Karachi, featuring 15 matches played across Pakistan and Dubai. This arrangement follows India's decision to refrain from traveling to Pakistan, opting instead for matches in Dubai. The runners-up will receive $1.12 million, and semi-finalists will each earn $560,000, with respective prizes down to the eighth-placed team.

Notably, the Champions Trophy was previously shelved in 2016 in favor of focusing on singular major events for each cricket format, but the ICC reversed this decision in 2021. Meanwhile, the 2023 ODI World Cup, clinched by Australia, offered a $4 million prize, highlighting the diversity in cricket's premier tournaments.
