Champions Trophy: A Cricketing Comeback in Pakistan
The Champions Trophy returns after an eight-year hiatus, with Pakistan hosting the opening match against New Zealand. Originally scrapped by the ICC to focus on the ODI World Cup, its revival in 2025 features top teams including India playing in Dubai. Matches will lead to semi-finals and a crowned winner.

The Champions Trophy is making a comeback after an eight-year hiatus, with hosts Pakistan facing New Zealand in the inaugural match of the ninth edition scheduled for Wednesday. Once scrapped by the ICC to streamline international tournaments, its revival was announced in November 2021 for a 2025 event.
The tournament comprises the top seven teams from the 2023 World Cup alongside hosts Pakistan. The competition will unfold in a group stage format with two groups. Notable absences of direct confrontations between political rivals India and Pakistan will see India playing its matches in Dubai.
The action kicks off on February 19 in Karachi and spans various cities, culminating in a final that will either take place in Lahore or Dubai. The tournament is creating a buzz as it reignites long-standing cricket rivalries across international boundaries.
