Botafogo, a prominent Brazilian football club, has dismissed manager Renato Paiva after their exit from the Club World Cup, the club confirmed.
Despite a noteworthy victory against Champions League winners Paris St Germain, Paiva's team was eliminated in the last 16 by Palmeiras, after a 1-0 loss in extra time. Paiva's tenure lasted only four months.
Paiva, visibly stunned by the decision, expressed his disbelief, claiming both the staff and players were equally surprised by his sudden dismissal.
