Veteran politician and former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar called for the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to acknowledge the achievements of women cricketers, including Diana Edulji, for their contributions at both national and international levels.
Speaking during the inauguration of a new lawn dedicated to MCA contributors at Wankhede Stadium, Pawar emphasized the need for equal recognition of legendary female players alongside their male counterparts. He praised the efforts of MCA president Ajinkya Naik and his team for creating a dedicated space for club members at the stadium.
Pawar remarked on the importance of acknowledging the strength of Mumbai cricket's foundation, including ground facilities and the contributions of loyal members. He noted the large turnout at the event as a testament to the members' enduring affection for the association, urging participation in the upcoming elections with the institution's best interests in mind.
