Alcaraz explained that his right hamstring developed edema, leading doctors to advise against competing. He expressed sorrow about not being able to support Spain in the prestigious tournament.
Spain, slated to play against the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals on Thursday, will proceed without their star player, with the Davis Cup Finals culminating in a title matchup on Sunday.
